What's around St. Lawrence?

St. Lawrence is a village located on the southern coast of the Isle of Wight. The village is to the west of seaside resort of Ventnor and so close to it that it is sometimes considered to be a suburb of Ventnor, but many dwellers of the settlement think of it as its own township. Either way, it is quieter and more peaceful than Ventnor yet close enough to the town to be able to explore it daily and experience a more serene side to the Isle of Wight.

St. Lawrence is actually a lot older than Ventnor, with a history dating back to the 1200s and a church still standing from this century. This church was the smallest one in England until 1830 when a chancel was built onto the existing structure, and there is now another much larger church to go alongside it, St Lawrence’s Church, with parts dating back 500 years.

Renting a self-catering cottage in St. Lawrence is the perfect way to experience the history and tranquillity of this gorgeous beachside settlement, and it makes a wonderful romantic break where you can relax, indulge and soak up the atmosphere of this special place.
