A small hamlet near the central eastern part of the Isle of Wight, Horringford is set in some really gorgeous countryside, and is home to a range of quaint and pretty little cottages. One place of interest is Horringford Manor which is a historic manor house located within the hamlet. The small village and civil parish of Arreton is also extremely close by to Horringford and makes a wonderful day trip as there is so much to do here. The Shipwreck Centre and Maritime Museum has been located in Arreton since 2006 and features fantastic smuggling displays as well as a working Blacksmith’s Forge.

Even if you think that ghosts are nonsense, the creepy thought will still linger in the back of your mind, making a visit to the manor an exciting and scary one!

Just over three miles north west from Horringford is the county town of Newport, which is jam-packed full of things to do. With a plethora of shops, bars, pubs and restaurants, it is also home to a couple of museums such as the Museum of Island History. If you are interested in learning about the history of the place where you have chosen to holiday then a visit here is a must, and through exhibitions and displays, you will learn about the fascinating history of the Isle of Wight which dates all the way back to the age of the dinosaurs.

Horringford is charming, friendly and peaceful, and perfect if you want to rent a self-catering holiday cottage in an area full of natural beauty and away from bright lights and traffic pollution.
